Summer Term
Our current topic is World War 2! We are very excited to begin this topic with the children. We will begin by looking at the history of WW2 learning about key events such as evacuation, the blitz, air raid shelters and rationing. During DT this term children will have further opportunity to explore rationing by participating in some cooking. The children will then progress to geographical aspects of the war. We hope to learn some 1940's songs with the children and throw a victory street party at the end of the summer term. We also have an exciting trip to Eden Camp planned this term to further enrich the children's knowledge of the war.
Our Science topic this term sound, children will be learning about how sounds are made, how we hear sounds and how sound travels. Children will have the opportunity to explore how the different aspects of the ear help us to hear. We will further learn about different pitches and tones. We will be carrying out investigations which consider how sound travels, how long it takes for sound the travel, and factors that may effect sound travelling.
During Art we will be looking at an artist called Andy Goldsworthy, he uses materials from the environment around him to create artwork. The children will be recreating his art work with natural resources they can find, along with coming up with their own art work in the style of Andy Goldsworthy.
