Oak 6 2017 - 2018

Mr Meakin

Welcome to Oak 6! laugh

"We work hard to achieve our dreams,

Valuing each other and working as a team,

Each person is unique, a nutty mix...

But together we're stronger, we are Oak 6!"

- Oak 6 Vision Statement

After a challenging half-term, all the children in Oak 6 can be immensely proud of their efforts in the run-up to and during the SATs week. I could not have asked for anything more than the children showed and I feel incredibly proud of each and every one of them.

Rather than specific English, Maths or spellings homework, this half-term I have encouraged the children in Oak 6 to get outdoors while this sunny warm weather is still around! I would like them to consider the '50 Things to do before you're 11 ¾' and produce a creative presentation of what they have been doing over the half-term. This could be a poster, powerpoint, 3D model, image/photo album, report or anything else that the children can think of to present the activities they have taken part in. There is no minimum or maximum amount of activities to complete and no criteria for their presentation - the more creative the better!

Have  a lovely, sunny and relaxing half-term everyone!

Oak 6 is a Year 6 class, taught by Mr Meakin and supported by Mrs Teasdale and Mrs Firth.

Information regarding our class timetable/routine is as follows:

PE Rota:

PE is taught on Tuesday (outdoor) and Thursday (indoor). For this, children need to have correct school kit including indoor and outdoor footwear. No watches or jewellery will be allowed during PE times. The indoor PE kit consists of black shorts, white T-shirt and black pumps. For outdoor PE, children could bring trackuit bottoms/top.

Homework is always given out on Thursday afternoon and is expected to be returned on Monday the following week. This homework consists of a Maths and an English activity, as well as continuous home reading, for which children must bring in their reading logs every Monday to be checked. Spellings practice may also be given out.

All children must read at least three times a week at home.

Thank you for reading! We hope you enjoy finding out more about what we are currently learning at school.
