Friends of Bywell

Friends of Bywell (FOBs)
Hello and a big warm welcome from the Friends of Bywell (FOBs) - to all pupils, parents and friends of Bywell C of E (C) Junior School.
What is FOBs?
FOBs is a group of people including parents, staff and friends of the school who help to organise events, both fund raising and social.  Friends of Bywell was established in September 2015 with the idea of holding 3 events to raise funds to buy things that benefit the children and also as social events or activities that would engage and excite them.
What are the aims of FOBs?
Our principal aim is to raise funds and assist the school in providing an enriched curriculum and enhance the learning experiences for our children. The success of FOBs depends entirely on the support of parents, staff and the community.
Who can belong to FOBs?
Anyone who has a child at the school or who works at the school is automatically a member of FOBs. Everyone is welcome and we are always looking for support and new ideas.
How can you find out more?
In September a meeting will be held to which all parents, staff and anyone interested in supporting FOBs can attend. It is a good way of meeting people for the first time and being involved in the programme of events for the year.  For the parents of children new to Bywell in September, the Friends of Bywell will attend the parent meeting in July to introduce themselves. Anyone who might wish to become involved can speak to them or get more details at this meeting.
How to contact FOBs
The easiest way to contact us is to leave a message with the school office and a member of FOBs will contact you.
Putting the fun into Fundraising - 2015/16 Events
Over the year the generosity of parents and pupils at Bywell Junior School and the hard work put in by FOBs has enabled us to raise a significant amount whilst giving a number of enriching opportunities to pupils.  The first event the Monster Ball was attended by over 100 children and raised nearly £300 (which was used to provide Bywell T shirts for children to wear when competing at inter-school sports events.)  At Christmas FOBs organised a Secret Santa for children to buy gifts for members of their families for a small price which were then gift-wrapped and delivered to children for them to put under their Christmas Trees. This raised just over £200. Our 3rd event was the very successful Easter Egg Tombola which due to the generous support of parents/carers and of course children, raised almost £500. Friends of Bywell with support from the School Council ran 4 tombola stalls in each unit to ensure that all children had the opportunity to take part.  At the very start of the school year FOBs played a leading role in organising a very successful Macmillan Coffee Morning which was attended by a great many parents, carers and Grandparents and raised £675. The support from the school community with the amount and variety of cakes, biscuits and buns sent in to ensure the success of the event was amazing.
Fundraising -2016/17
At Christmas FOBs organised a Chocolate Tombola which again due to the generous support of parent/carers and children alike, raised £236.25.

Adding your support.
FOBs is not all about fundraising and the successes are firmly based on a small number of people who are prepared to give up some of their time to support the school in this way. We would welcome more people to be part of this team, offering whatever support you are able to and meeting in a friendly environment to discuss new ideas.
