What is the Local Offer?
The Local Offer provides information for children and young people aged 0 – 25 years who have special educational needs or disabilities. It provides information about various services across Kirklees that are available for these children and young people in education, health and social care.
This information is also intended to support the families of children and young people with SEND. It has been developed by Kirklees council as part of the new Children and Families Act (2014). The Council is working with parents, carers, young people, schools, colleges, early years’ providers and health services to produce the Local Offer.
PCAN is a supportive, independent parent-led forum for parents of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Their three main aims are;
- To provide good, up to date and relevant information for parents and carers across Kirklees.
- To help parents get together to offer and support and friendship to each other.
- To provide a Stronger Voice for parents and carers in Kirklees – helping parents to be involved in shaping services for themselves and their children
