Year 4 Curriculum

Times Tables

All children in Year 4 must learn their multiplication tables.

We use Times Table Rock Stars  to support their rapid recall of these. All children have a login and are encouraged to use it as often as they can.

Here is the link to the website:

https://ttrockstars.com/

Writing

We use Jane Considine’s ‘The Write Stuff’ as a basis for our writing. The Writing Rainbow helps us during our sentence stacking and independent writing.

Reading

We love reading in Year 4.

Here is a link to some recommended reads for Year 4 .https://www.thereaderteacher.com/year4

Every child has a reading book and a book they have chosen from our fabulous library.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” Dr Suess.

Reading daily is essential

Spelling

The children have new spellings every week, they are on the website below for them to practice at home. In addition to these words, we have Orange Words, which are a list of words Year 4 children are expected to be able to spell.

Spellings will be sent out via PING and tested every Thursday.

This Week's Learning

Week beginning : 16th December

There are many activities planned for this busy time.

This week we will continue with our DT project to design and sew a decorative book protector cover.

We will also be creating individual cards this week.

We will continue with our RE lessons learning about light and advent.

We will also consolidate learning about Christingle in preparation for our visit to St Paul’s Church on Wednesday- please ensure children have full uniform and a coat on this day.

Please return all reading books by Wednesday 18th December so that we can check our records.

Thursday is our Christmas Performance. The children have worked really hard to learn lines and songs and the show is looking good so far. Please look out for further PING messages regarding help with costumes and timings etc. There will be drinks available and also a raffle.

Friday morning will be our year group Christmas party. Children may come in non- uniform but please remember that it is PE and outdoor learning in the afternoon.

After such a busy week you will all deserve a break. Thank you for all your support this term.

We all wish you a peaceful break. See you next year.
