Week beginning: 18th May

In our Maths lessons we will focus on decimals, in particular to make tenths and hundredths, partition, compare and order decimals and then round to the nearest whole number.

In English lessons we will start our next unit of writing based on ‘The Iron Man.’

In RE lessons we will try to answer our BIG Question: How do we make people feel welcome in our community?

In our science lessons we will delve deeper into a variety of food chains, including prey and predators.

In History our theme is The World Wars.

In Geography we will continue our fieldwork study based on ‘How we get to school.’

In PE we are developing skills with our partners ‘Beyond the Physical.’  Our focus this term is ‘Accuracy, Power and Distance’ , using a range of equipment to develop skills for sports.

Thank you for your continued support with spellings and times tables- the whole year group is making fantastic progress- well done!

Homework expectations

Children are expected to read daily and return their reading log to school each day.

It is expected that children log on to TT Rockstars for a minimum of 20 minutes per week. We will keep you informed of the TT Rockstars schedule for the Multiplication Times table Check as the year progresses.

Times Tables

All children in Year 4 must learn their multiplication tables. In July there is a National Multiplication Tables Check. All children in Year 4 are encouraged to learn all of their multiplication facts up to 12 x 12.

To enable this, we will be working our way up the times table ladder each week. You will receive a weekly PING to tell you of your child’s achievements and what to learn at home next. Times table books must be returned to school for our weekly test each week.

TTROCKSTARS: this is a brilliant program to encourage times tables practise. It is recommended to complete 21 minutes of GARAGE each week and complete 6 SOUNDCHECKS to develop multiplication fluency in the Summer Term.

All children have a login and are encouraged to use it as often as they can.
